Disability
– A wonderful poem by Mary Casserly
Some disabilities are visible and some are not,
but those who live with them go through a lot.
Whether it’s the unseen pain, or being visionary impaired,
a wheelchair user they have to be prepared.
When out and about it’s surprising to see,
some footpaths not designed for those who need them to be.
Light switches, etc, could be just an inch too high,
but impossible to reach no matter hard they try.
More thought when planning buildings and public paths,
to make life easier, is not a huge ask.
People with disabilities need to be able to get to work or college.
It would be society’s loss not to have their skills and knowledge.
I would like to leave you with a final request,
see the person not the disability with determination at its best.
