EASY READ

Ableism debrief.

This is the easy read version. It has short sentences and pictures. You can press Listen to hear it read out.

What this is about

Ableism means treating disabled people unfairly.

For example: talking over you, not believing you, or making places you cannot get into.

How to do it

Think of one time this happened.

What did the person or place do?

What did it make you feel?

What did it try to make you believe about yourself?

Is that belief true?

Often it is not.

What does it show about the other person or the system?

Your feelings make sense. You are not too sensitive.

Remember

You can stop at any time.

You can say no. You do not have to say why.

Therapy carries on. It is still OK.
